A dynamic chair dressed in rich leather that sits atop a distressed metal base. The silhouette is simple but the engineering is complex. The form is a digital extrusion of a curve along a sphere. There is a subtle shift in dimensions from one side to the other, although at first glance the form is perfectly symmetrical.
This design was released nearly ten years ago in semi-gloss plastic molding with an electroplated base, as can be seen in the last two renderings. Today, the taste of the consumer is more sophisticated, so I sought out richer materials like pebbled leather and an acid-enhanced cast metal base.
